Monstera deliciosa - Peat Free
Monstera deliciosa also know as the Swiss cheese plant has been a favourite for many years. An evergreen climbing shrub with aerial roots and large, glossy, heart shaped, dark green leaves. As the plant matures, the leaves become perforated with oblong holes giving them the distinctive 'Swiss cheese' shape.
This a plant that needs space to grow, in its native rainforests in Mexico the roots are used to scale to enormous heights. The height of this Monstera will reach 4 to 8 metres and the width 1.5 to 2.5 metres. A moss pole can be used to support it as it grows. Monstera deliciosa looks fantastic in a hallway, conservatory or in a large living space.
Prefers bright, indirect light, also happy in moderate shade. Avoid direct sunlight as this can scorch the leaves. Keep the soil evenly damp and water when the top couple of inches of soil feels dry to the touch. Excess water will lead to dry spots developing on the foliage. Loves an average to high humidity level and cannot cope in dry air situations, mist the leaves occasionally for best results. Prefers warmer temperatures, no lower than 12°C in the winter, keep away from draughts.
The leaves are poisonous to humans and animals, keep out of reach of pets and children.
