Chamaerops humilis 30 Litres
Chamaerops humilis, commonly known as the Mediterranean fan palm, is a species of palm native to the western Mediterranean region. It is a small to medium-sized palm that typically grows up to 2.5 metres tall, with a multi-stemmed trunk covered in persistent leaf bases.
The fan-shaped leaves of Chamaerops humilis grow up to 50cm long with a deep green colour and a serrated edge. Mature palms produce small, inconspicuous flowers in the summer, which are followed by small, black fruit.
Chamaerops humilis is a tough, hardy palm that can tolerate a range of growing conditions. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade, and is relatively drought-tolerant once established. It is often grown as a specimen plant in Mediterranean-style gardens, where its attractive foliage and rugged, architectural form can be showcased. In colder climates, it may need protection from severe winter weather.
