Known as Portuguese Laurel this large evergreen shrub has an RHS Award of Garden Merit. It has dark red shoots with dark green oval leaves. If unclipped it will also produce small fragrant white flowers in early summer which are popular with pollinators and are followed by small dark fruits in autumn popular with birds. Perfect as a low maintenance hedge prune in early summer to keep to the size you need. The berries and foliage are harmful if ingested.
