Auriculate Lady Fern (deciduous) 1 Litres
Athyrium otophorum var. okanum, also known as Eared Lady Fern, is a small deciduous fern native to Japan. It typically grows to about 80cm in height and forms a clump of triangular-shaped fronds that are yellow-green in colour with contrasting deep purple-red stems. The fronds are deeply lobed and have wavy edges, with the lower pinnae being slightly larger than the upper ones. The distinguishing feature of this fern is the reddish-brown "ears" at the base of each pinna, which are actually modified leaflets. Okanum Eared Lady Fern is prized for its unique appearance. It prefers a shaded, moist location and is a good choice for woodland gardens or shaded borders.
