Gossypium herbaceum, commonly known as Levant cotton, is a species of cotton plant. This tender shrub is cultivated for its fibres, which are used to produce cotton. Its flowers are yellow with a purple center and give rise to capsule-like structures known as bolls, which contain the cotton fibres. It requires a long hot growing season so start it off indoors and plant out after the last frost.
