Bambussa Phyllostachys bissettii 200-250
Phyllostachys bissetii is a species of running bamboo native to China. It has become a popular ornamental plant in gardens and landscapes around the world due to its fast growth rate, hardiness, and attractive appearance. The canes of the bamboo are green and grow to a height of up to 6 metres tall but can be easily maintained at 4m.
Phyllostachys bissetii is considered an invasive species and care must be taken to prevent it from spreading uncontrollably. As such, it is best planted in a contained area such as a large pot or raised bed with a root barrier in place.
In terms of care, Phyllostachys bissetii prefers a moist, well-drained soil and partial shade to full sun. It benefits from regular watering during dry spells. Fertiliser can be applied in the spring and summer to promote healthy growth. It is also recommended to prune out any dead or damaged canes to maintain a neat appearance.
